This mathematical and typographic sound spectrum is represented like a medical X-ray. Vibrations are created with the help of typography.

The text is an extract from the book Pour une poétique de la vibration by Patrick Quiller. This passage is a moment of metaphorical description of the so-called ‘unpredictable’ sound vibration. The author describes it as both ‘creative and destructive’, turning ‘ceaselessly around the poles and breaking all binary logic’.

Musical sound waves are indeed uncontrollable and unpredictable movements that we can calculate and verify very clearly. Through this work I want to illustrate the contrast between unexpected heresy and rigidly predictable calculation.

In comparison, human sensitivity reflects this binary definition. Unlike a robot, a human being is surprising and sometimes surprises himself.
