Can everyday objects tell suspenseful stories?

‘L'Enquête’ presents a police case through the dismantling of a pair of headphones. The viewer is plunged into a world of mystery and intrigue, where the components of a pair of headphones become the clues to solving a crime. The headphones are presumed guilty. Although they have allowed people to concentrate and sparked their imagination, they have also locked people into their own worlds, isolating certain individuals and allowing others to escape...

Through a series of Polaroids and sealed envelopes, we break down the object into the three elements essential to its functioning: the listening pad, the anechoic chamber and the electronic board. The textures and colours of the various components raise questions about their functions. The staging of a ‘murder’ becomes a metaphor for the oppression caused by this device.
